Jobs without German

The English-language job market, month by month

October 2026 so far, counted on 16 Oct 2026. Recounted every night; each month's figures are kept once the month ends.

3,889 open roles

This page keeps a record of the list, month by month. It counts adverts written in English on employers' own careers boards. It does not count the whole job market, and it says below exactly where the line is.

October 2026 so far

On 16 Oct 2026 there are 3,889 open roles on this site, from 464 employers. Of those adverts, 83.3% do not ask for German at all; the rest name German as an advantage. Adverts that require German are not listed here at all.

What the advert saysListings
The advert says English is the working language 56 (1.4%)
The advert doesn't ask for German 3,182 (81.8%)
German is named as an advantage 651 (16.7%)

The same split for each city is on German as an advantage, city by city.

By level, as the job title states it

Entry level 59 (1.5%)
Senior 1,092 (28.1%)
Lead & principal 427 (11.0%)
Head & director 246 (6.3%)
Not stated 2,144 (55.1%)

A title that names two levels — "Senior / Lead", say — is counted under both, so this column can add up to a little more than the total. Most titles name no level at all, and we do not guess one.

What is new this month, counted honestly

Of the 3,889 listings open on 16 Oct 2026:

  • 738 first appeared during October 2026 on the boards of employers we were already reading on 1 Oct 2026. These are the only ones we can call new: we were looking at those boards before, and the advert was not there.
  • 362 come from 62 employers we started reading this month. They are new to this site, not necessarily new to the world — when we add an employer, everything they already had open arrives on the same night.
  • 2,789 were already here before 1 Oct 2026.

That split matters more than it looks. Most of this site's growth so far has come from adding employers, and a single headline figure for "new jobs" would mostly measure how busy we were, not how busy the market was.

Compared with the end of September 2026

  • All listings: 3,582 → 3,889 (+307)
  • Germany: 3,155 → 3,430 (+275)
  • Austria: 110 → 120 (+10)
  • Switzerland: 317 → 339 (+22)
  • Employers advertising: 420 → 464 (+44)

The first figure is the end of September 2026, counted on 30 Sep 2026, the last night of that month we have a count for. The second is October 2026 so far, counted on 16 Oct 2026. A change here can come from the market or from us adding or dropping employers; the section above says how much of this month's change is which.

Every month on record

  • October 2026 (so far), counted on 16 Oct 2026: 3,889 listings (Germany 3,430 · Austria 120 · Switzerland 339), 83.3% not asking for German, from 464 employers.
  • September 2026, counted on 30 Sep 2026: 3,582 listings (Germany 3,155 · Austria 110 · Switzerland 317), 84.1% not asking for German, from 420 employers.

What this page does not count

  • Jobs that closed. A listing leaves this site when its advert disappears from the employer's board, when we read it again and find it asks for German, or when we stop reading that employer. Our records cannot tell those apart, so a "closed this month" figure would mostly count our own decisions. We leave it out rather than print it with an apology.
  • The whole job market. These are the employers we follow whose adverts we can read with permission, in English. Almost every job in these three countries is advertised in German and never reaches this page. A rise here can mean more English-language hiring, or simply that we found more employers who do it.
  • Posting dates. No board we read tells us when an advert was first posted. "First appeared" means the first night we saw it.
  • Jobs, rather than adverts. The figures describe what each advert says, which is all anyone outside the company can read. The labels page explains why.

How it is counted

Once a night every employer's board is read and the whole site is rebuilt. The figures on this page come from the same list as every other page, after the same screens — not adverts, work placed abroad, repeats of the same role and anything removed by hand — so they agree with the front page and with the numbers. The screens are counted one by one on how this list is made.

The current month's line is replaced every night. When a month ends, nothing writes to its line again, so it keeps the count from that month's last night — which is the date shown beside it.

You are welcome to quote these figures or link to this page. Please give the month and the date they were counted, because the current month changes every night. A figure you need that is not here? Ask: info@jobswithoutgerman.de.
